Almo Nature: Who we are

Almo Nature owes a lot to the City of Genoa, where the company was established in 2000 and where it has grown to become a leading name in the pet food market. The company was founded thanks to the experience and foresight of Pier Giovanni Capellino, a businessman, who had worked in the industry for many years.
Almo Nature was the first company to launch completely natural foods for cats and dogs on the market.
Almo Nature pet foods have been formulated focussing on the needs of pets, their point of view and their wellbeing. We strive to achieve for all the ingredients that we use, from a biological and nutritional point of view, the highest values. Our foods undergo a minimum of processing and are not manipulated in any way whatsoever; moreover, because we love all animals, we adopt an absolutely cruelty free policy.

Today Almo Nature employs 90 people among Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, Great Britain and Canada.

It all began thanks to a cat called SHABBAT, a dog called SHANG, a cat called CHOCOLAT and a dog called "doctor" SALENTO, a dog called YANGA,; I have them to thank if I saw things "from their point of view"(what at a first glance may seem obvious). Doctor Salento, in particular, always there, always doing something, always beside his owner; I can honestly say that through his imitation he CREATED the philosophy and then the PRODUCT. He did the thinking, I was the spokesperson. Then, there is my friend, Piero Lassandro, "with the fortune to be an artist" who, in the two paintings "I gatti e la luna"(" Cats and the moon") and "Cani prima di sapiens sapiens" ("Dogs before sapiens sapiens") indelibly fixed, in time and space, the enormous dignity of those animals, fusing it with what ALMO NATURE is all about.

Quality and Transparency

Almo Nature’s Quality Control Service has defined a series of procedures that allow us to guarantee our feline and canine consumers premium quality foods, because they have undergone controls as rigorous as those that foods for human consumption undergo.

Maximum reduction of risks Just as for human foods, quality analysis is used to reduce the possibility of unforeseen problems arising. For us, a well defined series of ingredients and a specific manufacturing process correspond to each manufacturing site; hence, each manufacturing site is subject to specific quality control procedures. These govern the inspection of ingredients, the intermediate products (undergoing processing) and the end product and include a series of microbiological, chemical and physical controls.

A 360° traceability system Exactly as in the field of human foods, a lot number identifies each group of products with similar characteristics (for example, the result of the same processing step that has used specific ingredients originating from a precise source). In this way, we are not only able to trace our products at any time, whether they are displayed on a retail outlet’s shelves or awaiting dispatch in our warehouse facilities, but we are also able to trace the ingredients that have been used. Product traceability means that we have the certainty of being able to activate a “recall” procedure at any time for products already on the market, should this be necessary.

Almo Nature does not test on animals
Almo Nature products are completely cruelty-free; animal well-being is our prerogative therefore we do not test anything on animals.
Before being launched, our recepies are simply submitted/presented to all those families who volunteered all around Europe, in order to have their cats and dogs "tasting" new products for us. Four legged friends are offered our new recepies by their own masters, in the comfort of their own homes, evaluating palability with nostraining, in order to always guarantee our products are tasty and appetizing.
