Cloning is used to produce identical copies of highly-performing animals.

As well as being very inefficient, 90% of embryos fail to survive, reproducing animals with cloning causes the mother and offspring serious health and welfare problems.

For animal welfare reasons it should not be allowed to use cloning for food production and the sales of such food should be banned in the EU.
