Almore: Love-Food
The Outcome of Love-Food Project
The first edition of Almo Nature Love-Food - the great solidarity-oriented initiative designed to instantly and practically help all needy cats and dogs - drew to a close on 31st March.
The action carried out in Italy, Germany and England enabled Almo Nature to donate over 1 million meals!
Thank you to all those who participated with a gesture of aLmore!

To celebrate 10 successful years of developing high-quality, naturally nutritious pet food, Almo Nature is proud to launch a new solidarity project designed to help animals that are most in need. The Almo Nature Love-Food will be the first European food reserve for cats and dogs in need: Almo Nature Love-Food plans to donate pet food to specific charity groups and so help relieve the burden on animal shelters in Europe. Constant coordination with the charity groups will enable the Almo Nature Love-Food reserve to act promptly whenever an emergency is reported.
How it works
By choosing Almo Nature not only will you be feeding your pet a completely natural diet with no hidden or unhealthy additives, but you will also be helping cats and dogs in need! From December 2010 to March 2011 Almo Nature is donating 10% of its sales amount (net of VAT) in cat and dog food to help feed animals in shelters throughout the UK.

On the 10th of the following month we will release details of how many daily meals for cats and dogs we will be able to donate to our partner charities in this publication. The products will be set aside in the Almo Nature warehouse as being readily available for our partner charities. We will then deliver the food directly to the local branch indicated by the charity. So come back visit our website each month and find out exactly where the food has been donated, and how many daily meals have been provided to pets in need.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue
Margaret Green Animal Rescue is the oldest animal welfare organisation founded in Dorset. We rescue all types of unwanted, abandoned and ill-treated animals and re-home them to caring, loving owners. Of course we have our sad days as well as our happy days but there is nothing better than to see a poorly animal recover physically and mentally and then go happily on its way to the right home. Through our three thriving centres, we rescue and re-home over 1,000 animals each year including dogs, cats, horses, farm animals, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, to name but a few!

“On behalf of Margaret Green Animal Rescue, I am delighted to accept this very generous first donation of cat and dog foods from Almo Nature. By rescuing and rehoming around 1,000 animals annually, we have many mouths to feed 365 days per year so it is a pleasure and a privilege to feed them the high quality, nutritious foods delivered free of charge to our door by Almo Nature.”
Richard Clapp, Chief Executive of Margaret Green Animal Rescue
Coventry Cat Group
is a small independent rescue centre, registered as a charity in 1997, but active much longer. In 2010 they had 80 cats and kittens in our care and homed over 160. We are a no-kill rescue and will home FIV cats to indoor homes. We believe that all cats, however old, should be loved and cared for and as such have a limited number of resident places for cats of 16years+. Though too small to have a neutering budget, we strongly promote neutering and work closely with the Cats Protection and RSPCA on neutering campaigns providing much needed manpower.

Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
The Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter receives over 3,000 lost, unwanted, abandoned and abused animals every year. Our objective is the promotion of kindness and prevention of cruelty to animals. We do our best to reunite lost animals with their owners, however where this is not possible or the animal is no longer wanted, we provide care and shelter until a new loving home can be found. This often includes providing veterinary treatment and special care for injured, sick, abused and vulnerable animals that enter our centres.

"As a very busy rescue centre, we use a lot of food every day. This very generous donation will help us to provide a good meal for our residents. We are extremely grateful to Almo Nature, particularly in these tough economic times". Leyla Rutter, Chief Executive of the Newcastle Dog&Cat Shelter
Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare
Raystede aims to give animals a better life through rehoming, rehabilitation and sanctuary and give people the support and knowledge they need to treat animals with care and respect. Approximately 1,400 unwanted and abandoned animals are brought to us each year.
Our guiding principles are selective rehabilitaion wherever possible for dogs, cats and other small companion animals, and lifetime care in our world –class facilities for those animals that remain with us. We want every animal to have the best possible life and we do everything we can to make sure animals are safe, healthy and well cared for.

Nigel Mason, Chief Executive of the Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare in East Sussex says: “Approximately 1400 unwanted and abandoned animals are brought to us each year and we aim to give them a better life through rehoming, rehabilitation and sanctuary. The food donated by Almo Nature is helping us to achieve this. It is a fantastic scheme and we are very thankful that the company is supporting us through its Love Food campaign.”
Wood Green Animal Shelters
Wood Green Animal Shelters is a registered Charity that has been taking in and rehoming animals since 1924. The Charity rehomes just under 5,500 animals a year and has set national standards in animal care.
As well as thousands of cats and dogs, we rehome many ponies, rabbits, mice, guinea pigs, goats, sheep, ferrets and more. Our dedicated veterinary team saves the lives of countless animals every year as well as providing thousands with essential medical treatments, including, vaccinations and neutering procedures.
An experienced team assesses every animal, so we can find the right home and family for them. Some animals need longer with us than others before they are ready to be rehomed and we do whatever it takes.

The Society for Abandoned Animals
is a local charity that cares for and rehomes unwanted cats, dogs and rabbits. Many animals have not had the best start in life and to ensure they are rehomed with caring families who can give them the love and support they deserve, it is our policy to carry out home checks on all potential new homes prior to adoption.

Kim Puttock, Chief Executive of Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre, says: "We rescue and rehome hundreds of animals every year across Kent, Surrey and South London and always have lots of hungry mouths to feed. This generous donation from Almo Nature is very welcome and we are most grateful."
Haworth Cat Rescue
was founded in 1992 to provide a safe haven for abandoned and neglected cats and kittens in the area. Charity status was acquired in 1997 as Haworth Animal Welfare (Cat Rescue). Our aims are to relieve the suffering of cats in need of care and attention and to provide or maintain rescue homes or other facilities for the reception and care of unwanted animals and their treatment.

Corinne Moore, Campaign Manager, Haworth Cat Rescue, says: “This gift of healthy, quality food is a wonderful and practical gesture. Last year we homed 416 cats and also helped reunite lost cats with their owners. Our vet and food bills are a big expense. We appreciate every single act of kindness and every pound donated. Thank you Alma Nature for caring and helping to feed hungry mouths.”
Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre
is a registered animal welfare charity based in Biggin Hill, Kent. We find loving new homes for lost and unwanted animals across Kent, Surrey and South London, as well as providing vital medical treatment and shelter. No healthy animal is ever destroyed, and if no home can be found the animal remains at Foal Farm for the rest of its life.

Mayflower Sanctuary
in Bawtry, near Doncaster, rescues abused and abandoned dogs and cats, providing care and sanctuary until permanent responsible homes can be found. Last year 350 dogs and 120 cats were re-homed by the charity. The rescue centre relies heavily on volunteers and the public's generosity.
